THE BOYS

The Boys were an important part of the first wave of the mid-1970s British punk explosion. With powerful Steel/Dangerfield compositions, The Boys became the first British punk band to sign an album deal in January 1977. The audience and music press praised their song arrangements and harmonies, earning the band the nickname "The Beatles of Punk." The Boys were the first to offer a model for superior pop-punk.

The Boys were formed in September 1975 when singer/guitarist Matt Dangerfield left Mick Jones and Tony James’s budding punk band London SS to form a new band with former Hollywood Brats songwriter/keyboardist Casino Steel. Dangerfield’s art school friend, guitarist Honest John Plain, was recruited, and the following year, Kid Reid and Jack Black joined the group.

The Boys made their live debut at London’s Hope and Anchor in October 1976. Just a few gigs later, they became the first British punk band to sign an album deal when NEMS Records snapped them up in January 1977. The Boys’ latest album is from 2014.

The current lineup of The Boys includes Matt Dangerfield (guitar/vocals), Casino Steel (keyboards/vocals), Martin H-Son (drums), as well as Kent Norberg (bass/vocals) and Chips Kiesbye (guitar/vocals), both known from the Swedish band Sator.

POJAT

Having released their first album in 1990, Pojat quickly rose to the top of the so-called ramopunk genre alongside Ne Luumäet and Luonteri Surf. In January 1992, "Pasi Virtanen" reached number one on the official singles chart. Over the years, the band has released nine studio albums, including their latest release, "Nämä ajat" in 2023. In addition, they have released numerous singles, EPs, compilations, and participated in various collaborative projects, such as the Christmas albums and live album released under the name Ne Luupojat Surf. Miika Söderholm also released a solo album "Kuusnolla" in 2016.

The band includes original members guitarist/vocalist Miika Söderholm and guitarist Mikko Holmström, who rejoined after a long hiatus. The bassists and drummers have changed a few times over the years, with the current lineup featuring Raipe Laine (bass, backing vocals) and Timo Tolppa (drums).
